Disney Universe Invaded by Thanos’ Infinity War in Official Marvel Art

Disney characters join the Marvel Universe as legendary heroes and villains in breathtaking new artwork that pays homage to Thanos’ greatest comic book cover from The Infinity Gauntlet. Big Bad Pete transforms into the Mad Titan and holds the Infinity Gauntlet in the artwork, which is part of a series of “What If” variants commemorating Disney’s 100th anniversary. It recreates one of Marvel’s most iconic covers. The cartoon and comic book worlds seamlessly merged in the illustration.

In anticipation of the Walt Disney Company’s 100th birthday in 2023, Marvel Comics debuted a brand-new cover this week. In their most recent cover, Lorenzo Pastrovicchio and Chiara Di Francie parody the timeless artwork of George Perez from The Infinity Gauntlet by substituting Disney universe characters for Marvel heroes and villains. On the cover, Big Bad Pete, a lifelong enemy of Mickey Mouse, dons the Infinity Gauntlet as Thanos. Mickey transforms into Doctor Strange, Goofy plays Spider-Man, Minnie Mouse plays Captain America, Donald Duck plays Nova, and Pluto plays the Silver Surfer. What If Mickey and Friends Had To Save The Universe? is also written on the cover graphic.

Disney and Marvel Combine Perfectly on the Infinity Gauntlet Cover.

Given that the comic book is one of the most significant and impactful stories Marvel has ever written, it is appropriate to have The Infinity Gauntlet cover referenced. The six-issue miniseries by Jim Starlin, George Perez, and Ron Lim depicted the story of Thanos acquiring all six Infinity Stones and using them to eliminate half of all life on Earth. The tale inspired the Infinity Saga in the MCU, received a few sequels, and is one of Marvel’s most often reprinted tales. Famously, the first issue of the miniseries had a beautiful George Perez cover with Thanos and the Infinity Gems encircling the various Marvel Universe characters. That cover is currently receiving a new Disney homage.

The newest line of variants honoring The Walt Disney Company that will to published in 2023 is the Infinity Gauntlet Saga cover art with Disney characters. Marvel previously unveiled Mickey Mouse and the gang-based tributes to the first issues of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Hulk. As part of the celebration, Marvel unveiled brand-new Disney-themed covers for The New Avengers and The Invincible Iron Man.

The Disney100 variation of The Infinity Gauntlet parody cover, which features Mickey Mouse and other beloved characters as Marvel heroes and villains, will hit comic book shops on April 5, 2023. The Disney variant cover will be in issue #23 of Amazing Spider-Man.
