Crystal Palace Park will have its abandoned holiday lights removed
After being abandon for several weeks, a Christmas lights show will remove the installation from Crystal Palace Park.
Lightopia was held in a park in southeast London from November 19 to January 2.
However, its decorations were scatter over the park after its organizer, Outreach Creative Ltd, declared bankruptcy on January 9.
According to the park’s trust, work on dismantling installations began on Friday and is expect to be complete by February 12.
Crystal Palace Park Trust stated that when the organizers went into insolvency, it found itself unexpectedly the legal owner of all art installations remaining in the park.
It stated that by law, it was require to notify Outreach Creative and give them the option to retrieve all equipment before the trust could dispose of it.
It expressed “disappointment and irritation at this unanticipated and unforeseeable scenario” in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the decorations were “being consolidate into one spot out of the way in preparation for their final removal from the park in large lorries,” according to the statement.
‘Abandoned circus’
Residents described the park as an “abandon circus,” while others were alarm about the risks to small children and pets.
Dogs have become entangled in electricity cables.
Lightopia, forced to shut for a weekend in November after cracks in floodlights were judge hazardous, promot itself as “London’s finest festival of lights.”
It stated that it sought to “provide a culturally rich, highly entertaining, and immersive experience to everyone every Christmas.”
